Red Bull sporting director, Jonathan Wheatley is reportedly contemplating leaving the team following McLaren’s Zak Brown prediction that Adrian Newey departure would trigger a wave of exits. Newey, the chief technical officer is set to depart Red Bull due to dissatisfaction with the working environment after nearly two decades with the team.
Wheatley with aspirations to become a team principal has been exploring options elsewhere in the paddock. While Newey’s departure marks a significant loss, Wheatley has been praised for Red Bull pitstop performance. Despite recent contract extensions for key technical personnel including Pierre Wache, Enrico Balbo and Ben Waterhouse rumors of a power struggle at Red Bull persist.
McLaren’s Brown suggested that he’s received job inquiries from Red Bull staff amidst the turmoil. However, a Red Bull spokesperson downplayed the rumors, citing long-term contracts signed by their technical leadership team. Amidst the off-track drama, reigning world champion Max Verstappen continues to excel winning the Miami Grand Prix Sprint and securing pole position for the main event.
