Lucas Bergvall an 18-year-old midfielder from Djurgarden has opted to join Tottenham Hotspur over Barcelona for a summer move to the Premier League club. Despite fierce competition from Barcelona and other European clubs, Bergvall chose Spurs with a medical scheduled for Friday.
The deal driven by new Tottenham technical director Johan Lange is expected to be finalized soon. Barcelona had been willing to pay £6m plus £2.5m in add-ons for Bergvall. The Swedish teenager who has 29 appearances for Djurgarden and made his debut for Sweden in January is highly coveted by top clubs in Europe.
