Sunderland overcame negativity prior to their match against Stoke City with a 3-1 Championship victory at the Stadium of Light. Despite challenges like Alex Pritchard’s decision to leave, Sunderland’s players delivered a spirited performance. Goals from Mason Burstow, Abdoullah Ba and Pierre Ekwah secured the win for Sunderland while Stoke City’s late goal from Jenson Seelt couldn’t alter the outcome.

Stoke under Steven Schumacher’s management struggled to capitalize on their chances. Sunderland boss Michael Beale praised his team’s effort and highlighted Burstow’s debut goal. Meanwhile, Schumacher expressed disappointment with Stoke’s lack of clinical finishing despite dominating possession. Both managers acknowledged the challenges their teams faced emphasizing the need to improve in key areas.
