The race to sign Kalvin Philips is on!

Numerous reports indicate that Newcastle United is poised to compete with Juventus in the race to acquire Manchester City and England midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

The departure of Phillips appears imminent, as the 28-year-old is finding it increasingly challenging to secure a spot in City’s midfield, which boasts players like Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Kevin de Bruyne, and Julian Alvarez.

In essence, Phillips has struggled to live up to his reputation at Leeds, where he was regarded as one of the premier midfielders in the league.

A transfer is deemed necessary for him to vie for a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024 this summer.

Juventus, currently occupying the second spot in Serie A, is actively seeking a midfield boost, while Newcastle United is in dire need of reinforcements to address their extensive injury list.

The European transfer window is set to open on Monday, January 1, 2024.
