Chairman of Bayern Munich Herbert Hainer confirmed that the club is in talk with veteran forward Thomas Muller on a contract extension.
The current deal between the Bundesliga champions and 34 year-old Muller is set to run out in the summer of 2024.
“Muller is an icon for Bayern and a player with big merit here. All of us are wishing for him to end his career here,” Hainer said.
Muller has played at Bayern his whole career, having joined as an academy trainee in 2000 at only 11 years old.
He has made over 450 appearances for the club, scoring 152 in the process. Still a full international for Germany, the versatile striker has represented his country 126 times to date.
Reports suggested that a handful European clubs are monitoring his contractual situation at Bayern with Manchester United being one of them.
