Jockey Stefano Cherchi (23) tragically passed away two weeks after sustaining injuries from a fall during a race at Canberra, Australia. Cherchi who previously rode in Britain was placed in intensive care with a serious head injury and internal bleeding.
Despite efforts from medics, he succumbed to his injuries. Cherchi family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from the racing community worldwide. With over 100 wins in Britain, Cherchi was described as immensely popular and talented with tributes pouring in from fellow jockeys and racing authorities.
His passing has left the racing industry mourning the loss of a promising young talent.
