Trial Reveals Alleged Intimidation in Football Transfer Commission Dispute

In a trial in London a football agent Saif Alrubie argued that it would be foolish to threaten someone with the backing of former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich. Alrubie allegedly implied physical intimidation in an email to Marina Granovskaia, Chelsea former director of football demanding payment for his role in Kurt Zouma transfer to West Ham. Prosecutors claim Alrubie suggested Granovskaia might face consequences similar to another agent Kia Joorabchian who allegedly faced intimidation.

Alrubie denied intending physical threats and insisted he only sought legal action for owed commission. He acknowledged sending a demanding email but denied any intention of intimidation. The court heard conflicting accounts regarding commission agreements for Zouma transfer. Granovskaia denied cutting Alrubie out of the deal. Alrubie pleaded not guilty to causing distress or anxiety through electronic communication. The trial continues.
