Manchester City sporting director, Txiki Begiristain has humorously expressed his frustration at drawing Real Madrid for the third consecutive year in the Champions League. Real Madrid defeated City in 2022 but City gained revenge in 2023 on their way to winning the trophy. This year, they meet again in the quarter-finals. Begiristain acknowledged the challenge posed by Real Madrid consistent presence in the latter stages of the tournament.
Despite facing a tough opponent, City remains confident considering their recent success and form. Real Madrid leading LaLiga present a formidable challenge but Begiristain acknowledges their strength in the Champions League. City is currently in contention for a historic treble in the Premier League and FA Cup. The first leg against Real Madrid will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu on April 9 with the return leg at the Etihad Stadium eight days later.
