United earn a point at Anfield

Manchester United held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Anfield on Sunday, despite playing with 10 men for the final minutes.

The Reds showed resilience and spirit against the league leaders, who had 30 shots but could not break through United’s defence.

Andre Onana made several saves, while Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw were outstanding at the back. United had some chances of their own, with Rasmus Hojlund and Scott McTominay testing Alisson.

Diogo Dalot was sent off late on for two yellow cards, but United hung on to claim a first draw of the season. Michael Oliver, the referee for the game receives huge backlash from United fans for the decision.

The result leaves United in seventh place, 10 points behind Liverpool, but with a game in hand. Erik ten Hag’s side will hope to build on this performance when they face West Ham United at London Stadium on Boxing Day.
