Trabzonspor fans stormed the field and attacked Fenerbahce players following their Super Lig match. Fenerbahce won 3-2 but the celebration turned violent as fans confronted players. Bright Osayi-Samuel and Michy Batshuayi attempted to intervene while security services intervened.
Turkey’s Interior Minister condemned the violence and initiated an investigation leading to 12 arrests. FIFA President Gianni Infantino called the incidents unacceptable and urged accountability. Tensions escalated after Batshuayi’s winning goal prompting objects to be thrown onto the field.
The Turkish Football Federation denounced the events and promised legal action. Trabzonspor’s coach and Fenerbahce’s manager called for tolerance and sensible behavior. This incident adds to a series of controversies in the Turkish league this season. Fenerbahce currently ranks second in the Super Lig.
