Aston Villa striker Rachel Daly (32) has been handed a three-match ban by the Football Association for violent conduct during a match against Bristol City. Daly admitted the charge for elbowing defender Megan Connolly in the face caught on TV cameras but missed by match officials.

The incident occurred off the ball, and without Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in the Women’s Super League, Daly escaped on-field punishment. The three-match ban is automatic for violent conduct and Daly will miss Villa’s League Cup quarter-final against Brighton and WSL matches against Tottenham and Liverpool.

Everton and manager Brian Sorensen also face charges following their 3-0 defeat by Chelsea with Sorensen sent off for dissent.
