Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney the celebrity owners of Wrexham have substantially increased their investment in the League Two club more than doubling it from nearly £4 million to £9 million in the last season. Despite an increase in losses by £2.2 million between 2022 and 2023, the club reported a significant rise in turnover to £10.5 million.
This surge in income is attributed to various factors including success in competitions like the FA Cup and increased revenue from retail, sponsorship and advertising. Wrexham payroll also saw a substantial rise, reaching £6.91 million in 2023. However, the club asserts that the enhanced income should prevent similar losses in the future and enable the club to meet operational costs without immediate pressure to repay loans.
The club plans to further expand its facilities and capacity at The Racecourse Ground fueled by the continued popularity of the “Welcome to Wrexham” documentary.
