World number one Scottie Scheffler battled through a neck injury to reach eight under. Rory McIlroy slipped back to six under after a mixed round while Scheffler showed resilience despite discomfort.
Clark strong iron play and mental strength have propelled him into the lead. Fitzpatrick the previous US Open champion briefly led but dropped shots on his 13th hole. Schauffele and Taylor are also in contention with Brian Harman making a move with a 65. However, the infamous 17th hole claimed more victims including Justin Rose.
