Xabi Alonso has reportedly received a “verbal promise” from Bayer Leverkusen allowing him to leave if he receives offers from Liverpool or Bayern Munich. Although there is no written exit clause in his contract, the agreement comes with a price requiring potential suitors to negotiate a transfer fee expected to be between €15 million and €25 million.
Bayern Munich is also considering other options including Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi. Despite the speculation, Leverkusen’s sporting director, Simon Rolfes remains confident that Alonso will stay with the team beyond the current season.
