Barcelona coach Xavi has reversed his decision to leave the club at the end of this season and will now stay until at least June 2025 following discussions with president Joan Laporta. Initially, Xavi had announced his intention to step down in January. However, Laporta desire for him to continue led to the change of heart.
Xavi took over in November 2021 and led Barcelona to the Spanish title in his first full season. Despite recent setbacks including exiting the Champions League and trailing in La Liga, Xavi decision to stay reflects renewed confidence in the project.
If he fails to meet expectations by the end of his contract, Barcelona may pursue other high-profile managers such as Pep Guardiola, Luis Enrique or Mikel Arteta who will be available in 2025.
