Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s Debut Disappoints: Dodgers Fall to Padres Despite High Expectations

In his debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Yoshinobu Yamamoto struggled lasting just one inning and giving up five runs in a 15-11 loss to the San Diego Padres. The 25 years old right-hander expressed regret for not keeping the team in the game and acknowledged his responsibility for the outcome.

Despite signing a record-breaking $325 million contract, Yamamoto faced difficulties with his command throwing only 23 strikes out of 43 pitches. He surrendered four hits, walked one batter, hit another and threw a wild pitch. The Padres capitalized on his struggles, batting around and scoring five runs in the first inning.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts attributed Yamamoto’s performance to a lack of command rather than his pitching ability. Despite the rough start, there is confidence that Yamamoto will bounce back in future outings.
