Alex Yee, Great Britain’s Olympic and world triathlon champion will make his debut at the 2025 London Marathon on Sunday, 27 April. The 26-year-old, who has already achieved remarkable success in triathlon including four Olympic medals is now set to tackle the marathon distance for the first time. Yee, a London-born athlete, secured individual gold and mixed relay bronze at the Paris 2024 Olympics, cementing his status as one of the world’s top triathletes.
He followed that triumph by claiming his first world title in October, finishing third in the final race in Spain to secure the overall championship. Known for his exceptional endurance and running abilities, Yee previously represented Great Britain in track and cross-country events earlier in his career. Reflecting on his decision to commit to the London Marathon, Yee described the opportunity as an easy choice.
“Committing to the London Marathon for me was a no-brainer. It is an event that has given me so many memories,” he said. Yee, who completed the Mini London Marathon five times during his youth, added, “Taking part in a full marathon has always been an itch I’ve wanted to scratch, and there isn’t any other place than London where I would want to start that journey.” Yee’s transition to the marathon marks an exciting new chapter in his career.
His ability to deliver outstanding running performances during triathlons including his thrilling victory over New Zealand’s Hayden Wilde in Paris, suggests he could adapt well to the 26.2-mile challenge. For Alex Yee, the London Marathon holds sentimental value and it provides an ideal platform to test himself in a new discipline. Fans will eagerly watch as the reigning Olympic and world champion embarks on this highly anticipated next step in his athletic journey.
