Daryll Neita Silver: Euro Athletics Highlights
Daryll Neita expressed feeling “distraught” after securing 200m silver at the European Athletics Championships in Rome, missing gold by a fraction. She embraced Mujinga Kambundji, who clinched gold with a photo finish of 22.49 seconds. Megan Keith, 22, won her first senior medal, bronze in the 10,000m. Neita’s silver brought Great Britain’s total medals to 11. “I’m lost for words right now, I’m really not happy with that. I know I was capable of that gold,” said Neita. “I gave everything I had… honestly, I’m disappointed.”
On Wednesday, Keely Hodgkinson aims to defend her 800m title. Daryll Neita targets individual honors as she builds towards Paris 2024. Keen on improvement, Neita believes she has more to achieve this summer. Keith, making her Olympic debut, demonstrated talent on the international stage. Great Britain competes in the men’s 4x400m relay final. Hodgkinson is a favorite in the women’s 800m final. The men’s 10,000m features Britons Patrick Dever, Rory Leonard and Zakariya Mahamed. Neil Gourley, Adam Fogg and Jakob Ingebrigtsen compete in the men’s 1500m final. The championships conclude with the 4x100m relay finals.
