Fred Kerley, the United States Olympic sprinter was tasered and arrested by police following an altercation on Thursday evening in Miami. The 29-year-old, who earned a 100m bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics faces charges including battery, resisting arrest and breach of the peace. The incident occurred when police were investigating a separate matter and Kerley approached officers with concerns about his car.
According to a police report, Kerley displayed an “aggressive demeanor” and resisted arrest, using evasive movements to avoid detention. The situation escalated, and four officers subdued Kerley. Bodycam footage shows him briefly standing up before police tasered him and he fell to the ground. Afterward, they took him into custody.
