Aaron Chia & Soh Wooi Yik Win Korea Masters Doubles Title

Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik secured their first title of 2024 by winning the Korea Masters men’s doubles title in Iksan City. The Malaysian pair, ranked world No. 6 came from behind to defeat South Korean duo Jin Yong and Kim Won Ho in a thrilling three-set final. The match lasted 66 minutes with Aaron and Wooi Yik battling back to win 21-23, 21-19, 21-14.

This victory marks their second World Tour title, following their triumph at the Denmark Open last year. The Korea Masters win is also significant for Malaysia as it is the country’s first Super 300-level title since the event’s inception in 2007. Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik’s performance in Iksan came after a strong comeback with the duo overcoming a tough first set loss.

The final was a test of resilience as they fought back from 1-0 down to claim victory in the next two sets, showcasing their determination and skill. Earlier this year, the pair reached the final of the prestigious All England but they fell short, losing to Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Rian Ardianto in March. Despite this setback, their Korea Masters win in Iksan has been a significant achievement and a strong start to their 2024 campaign.

The victory not only boosts their confidence but also strengthens their position as one of the top men’s doubles teams on the international badminton circuit. Their success at the Korea Masters will be a major morale boost as they continue to compete at higher-profile events throughout the year.
