Anthony Davis Shines Before Injury as Lakers Defeat Raptors

Anthony Davis and LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 123-103 win over the Toronto Raptors with Davis scoring 22 points in 26 minutes before leaving the game in the third quarter due to an eye injury. Anthony Davis, who had several eye injuries last season was hurt while attempting to block Jakob Poeltl’s shot. Meanwhile, James recorded his second consecutive triple-double contributing 19 points, 16 assists and 10 rebounds.

At 39, James became the oldest player in NBA history to achieve this feat marking his third triple-double of the season and the 115th of his career. The Raptors initially led 34-26 after the first quarter and built a 10-point advantage at 48-38 in the second quarter. However, the Lakers fought back, narrowing the gap to 55-53 by halftime.

Despite trailing 77-72 with less than four minutes remaining in the third, the Lakers went on a 16-5 run seizing control and maintaining it for the rest of the game. In other NBA action, Stephen Curry led the Golden State Warriors to a 127-116 victory over Oklahoma City with 36 points including seven three-pointers. However, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 43-point effort wasn’t enough for the Milwaukee Bucks, who lost 113-107 to the Boston Celtics.

Jayson Tatum starred for the Celtics with 31 points and 12 rebounds. Payton Pritchard added 18 points off the bench, while Derrick White, Jrue Holiday and Jaylen Brown contributed double-digit scoring. Antetokounmpo also grabbed 13 rebounds and had an on-court incident with Brown, who responded by saying, “Giannis is a child,” focusing on his team’s win.
