LeBron and Bronny Become First Father-Son Duo in NBA Game
LeBron James and his son Bronny made NBA history by becoming the first father-son duo to share the court in a regular season game. This milestone occurred during the Los Angeles Lakers’ season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves which the Lakers won 110-103. The historic moment came with four minutes left in the first half when coach JJ Redick introduced both LeBron and Bronny, prompting a huge cheer from the sold-out crowd at Crypto.com Arena.
LeBron expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “It’s always been family over everything,” and called the moment one of the greatest gifts he had received. He reflected on the significance of sharing the court with Bronny, noting that he had sacrificed a lot of time with his family because of the NBA and now being able to work alongside his son felt special. The father-son duo had already played together earlier in a preseason game against the Phoenix Suns but this official game solidified their place in history.
Bronny, 20, played three minutes in the first half, missing two field-goal attempts but grabbing an offensive rebound. LeBron, 39 tallied 16 points and three rebounds in 35 minutes. Bronny, who joined the Lakers as a second-round pick from the University of Southern California in June expressed his excitement after the game, calling it an unforgettable moment.
He emphasized how grateful he was for the opportunity to learn and grow in the league. LeBron the NBA’s all-time leading scorer is in his 22nd season but has not indicated when he plans to retire. He signed a two-year contract extension with the Lakers following Bronny’s arrival.
