LeBron James and Davis Lead Lakers to Third Straight Win
LeBron James and Anthony Davis led the Los Angeles Lakers to a thrilling 131-127 victory over the Sacramento Kings, marking their third consecutive win this season. James and Davis combined for an impressive 63 points including a decisive 30 points in the fourth quarter. The Lakers held a 64-60 halftime lead at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles extending their advantage to as much as 15 points.
However, the Kings mounted a comeback, pulling ahead 94-87 before the Lakers responded with a 21-0 scoring surge highlighted by 16 points from James. Davis notched 31 points, making him the first Lakers player since Kobe Bryant in 2005-06 to open the season with three consecutive games of at least 30 points. Meanwhile, James recorded a triple-double with 32 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists.
For the Kings, Domantas Sabonis led with 29 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists while De’Aaron Fox contributed 28 points and 10 assists. In another milestone, Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns became the eighth player in NBA history to surpass 29,000 career points, joining LeBron James as the only current players to achieve this. Durant led the Suns to a 114-102 win over the Dallas Mavericks with 31 points bringing his career total to 29,010.
Elsewhere, the reigning NBA champion Boston Celtics rallied for a late 124-118 victory against the Detroit Pistons, who remain winless. Trailing 112-106 with just over five minutes remaining, the Celtics powered through with Jayson Tatum scoring 37 points and Jaylen Brown adding 24 to secure the win.
These performances highlight a strong start to the season for the Lakers, Suns, and Celtics with each team and its star players showcasing resilience and skill in tight matchups.
