Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Leads Thunder to Victory Over Celtics
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 33 points to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 105-92 victory over the Boston Celtics, setting a franchise record with their 15th consecutive win in the NBA. Additionally, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander contributed 11 rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks, helping the Thunder extend their unbeaten streak since December 1st. The Thunder’s previous longest winning streak of 14 games was achieved in 1996 when they were still the Seattle Supersonics.
Meanwhile, Thunder forward Luguentz Dort, who added 14 points, highlighted the team’s chemistry, saying, “We’re out there having fun” and emphasized their supportive attitude toward each other’s success. Despite trailing by 13 points in the second quarter, Oklahoma City made a comeback, marking their fourth consecutive game in which they recovered from a double-digit deficit. On the other hand, the defending NBA champions, the Boston Celtics, struggled in the second half, scoring just 27 points after posting a strong first half.
As a result, Oklahoma City’s win improved their record to 30-5, solidifying their position at the top of the Western Conference. This victory marked the Thunder’s second of three consecutive games against the Eastern Conference’s top teams. They previously defeated the third-ranked New York Knicks on Friday and will face the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Eastern Conference leaders, on Wednesday.
The Cavaliers extended their own winning streak to 10 games with a 115-105 win over the Charlotte Hornets with Darius Garland leading Cleveland with 25 points. In other NBA results, the Houston Rockets beat the Los Angeles Lakers 119-115, the Sacramento Kings secured a 129-99 win over the Golden State Warriors, the New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Washington Wizards 110-98 and the Utah Jazz triumphed 105-92 over the Orlando Magic.
