Anthony Joshua, aged 34, has urged Tyson Fury to face him while both boxers are still in their prime, emphasizing that he won’t wait around for his fellow British heavyweight. Joshua is gearing up to challenge Daniel Dubois for the IBF world title on September 21 at Wembley Stadium. Meanwhile, Fury, aged 35, is scheduled to rematch Oleksandr Usyk in December, potentially paving the way for a blockbuster undisputed fight between Joshua and Fury.
“Let’s make this fight happen while we’re still fresh—how many battles do I have to endure before facing Fury? Let’s go,” Joshua asserted. The long-awaited showdown, speculated for years, has encountered hurdles in negotiations, but recent Saudi Arabian investments in boxing have renewed optimism for its realization.
“This fight has been brewing for a long time,” Joshua commented to BBC Sport. “I can’t wait until I’m 50 to fight Fury because by then, I’d have had too many battles. I can’t afford to sit idle; I have to keep fighting.”
Anthony Joshua, aiming to become a three-time champion with a win over Londoner Dubois, maintains confidence despite scrutiny, particularly after his second loss to Usyk in 2022. “I believe I belong at the top,” Joshua affirmed, reflecting on his resilience and determination to continue his career at the highest level.
Returning to Wembley Stadium, where he triumphed over Wladimir Klitschko in a memorable 2017 bout, Joshua anticipates a homecoming in front of over 90,000 fans. While he acknowledges Dubois’ skills after their sparring sessions, Joshua remains focused on the challenge ahead, respecting Dubois’ abilities as a well-rounded fighter.
