Chris Eubank Jr. vs Conor Benn Set for April in London

Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn will face off in their highly anticipated showdown this April in London, potentially at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The fight scheduled for 26 April, comes after years of controversy and buildup. The rivals initially planned to meet in October 2022, nearly 30 years after their fathers, Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr., fought their iconic rematch. However, they canceled the 2022 bout after Benn failed a voluntary drug test, sparking a two-year dispute with anti-doping authorities.

The suspension ended in November 2023 when authorities lifted it. Benn recently shared a photo of himself signing the fight contract alongside promoter Eddie Hearn and Saudi boxing organizer Turki Alalshikh, who confirmed the match on social media, calling it “the biggest fight in British boxing.” The 28-year-old Benn will move up from the welterweight limit of 147 lbs to face the 35-year-old Eubank, who typically competes at middleweight.

Chris Eubank Jr. enters as the favorite, with just one loss in his last nine fights which he avenged in 2023 against Liam Smith. Meanwhile, Benn boasts an unbeaten 23-0 record with 14 knockouts but has yet to compete at an elite level. This matchup has evolved from a legacy battle tied to their fathers’ rivalry to a standalone grudge match, fueled by two years of heated exchanges and legal battles.

Benn continues to deny intentional doping and will undergo Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) testing for this fight. The fight’s venue, now capable of hosting up to 60,000 fans, highlights its significance. Once hinging on family loyalty, the rivalry has taken on a life of its own, becoming one of the most anticipated clashes in British boxing history.
