Cindy Ngamba will make her professional boxing debut on 7 March in London, appearing on the undercard of Natasha Jonas’ unification fight against Lauren Price. The 26-year-old made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by becoming the first member of the Refugee Olympic Team to win a medal, securing a bronze in boxing. Now, Ngamba is setting her sights on a world championship title in the professional ranks.

Ngamba, who has already faced top-level competition in the Olympics and as an amateur, is eager to test herself against the best in the professional arena. She expressed excitement about showcasing her skills and continuing to represent refugees worldwide. “It is time for me to show what I am capable of,” Ngamba said, emphasizing her determination to push herself further in her career. The Cameroonian fighter has signed a multi-fight promotional deal with Boxxer and promoter Ben Shalom has hailed her as an “incredible athlete.”

Ngamba will make her pro debut on an all-female card that includes several notable fighters including welterweight champions Natasha Jonas and Lauren Price as well as WBC lightweight world champion Caroline Dubois, featherweights Karriss Artingstall and Raven Chapman, and super-middleweight champion Savannah Marshall. Ngamba’s journey to boxing prominence has been challenging. Due to her sexuality, she cannot return to Cameroon where homosexuality is criminalized.

After 15 years in the UK, she is still fighting for citizenship. In 2018, she made her amateur debut and accumulated 26 wins and just five losses including three English national championships. Her journey to the Olympics was not straightforward. Despite challenges with GB Boxing and the Home Office, Cindy Ngamba earned a spot on the Refugee Olympic Team where she became the first female boxer to represent the team at the Games.
