Natasha Jonas vs Lauren Price: The Ultimate Underdog Challenge

Natasha Jonas embraces her underdog role as she prepares to face rival welterweight champion Lauren Price at London’s Royal Albert Hall on March 7. Price the WBA champion, remains undefeated and is the favorite for the fight while Jonas holds the WBC and IBF titles. Despite the odds, 40-year-old Jonas does not feel intimidated by the predictions. “The pressure’s not on me. Lauren’s the champion, never lost a round, and the Olympic gold medallist,” Natasha Jonas remarked.

“There’s a lot of pressure on her to live up to expectations. Being the underdog suits me—I’ve been here before, and I always shine.” Jonas and Price met publicly for the first time since they confirmed their fight, following both women’s successful title defenses in December. While their previous encounters had a tense atmosphere, their recent staredown was less charged, despite interruptions from Jonas’ coach, Joe Gallagher, whose phone rang repeatedly.

Price, who has won all eight of her professional bouts, responded to Jonas’ comments by saying she thrives under pressure. “Take age out of it, I know I’m better in all areas. Tasha will bring out another level in me,” Price said. Jonas, the first female boxer to represent Great Britain at the Olympics in 2012, boasts an impressive record of 16 wins, two losses and one draw with five world titles across two weight classes.

Meanwhile, Price remains unbeaten as a professional and has yet to have a round scored against her. The fight will take place on International Women’s Day and feature an all-female undercard, including WBC lightweight champion Caroline Dubois, debutant Cindy Ngamba and world title challenger Raven Chapman.
