Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury in a close points decision to retain his unified heavyweight titles extending his undefeated record to 23-0. The rematch, held in Saudi Arabia, showcased elite boxing from both fighters, but Usyk’s precision and superior work rate ultimately earned him the victory. All three judges scored the fight 116-112 in favor of the Ukrainian champion, who successfully defended his WBA (Super), WBC and WBO titles.

Despite landing some strong punches in the first half, Fury couldn’t sustain his momentum while Usyk took advantage of his mistakes particularly focusing on Fury’s body. Fury, who had dominated earlier rounds with his size and physicality, failed to keep Usyk at bay in the later stages. Despite some strong moments including wobbles in the second and ninth rounds, Fury was unable to land a decisive blow.

Usyk finished strong, notably landing a brilliant combination in the 11th round that left Fury hurt. The fight ended with Usyk on top, cementing his place as a generational great. Following the loss, Fury remained confident, stating backstage that he believed he won by “at least three rounds.” Meanwhile, Usyk expressed gratitude for the tough challenge, acknowledging Fury’s greatness.

Tyson Fury’s lone defeat to Oleksandr Usyk leaves him with a career record of 34 wins, one draw, and two losses. Usyk now looks ahead, with potential opponents like Daniel Dubois, who has expressed interest in a rematch, and Anthony Joshua, who is at a crossroads after recent defeats. Usyk may even consider a move back down to cruiserweight, continuing his quest for new challenges and greatness.
