Australia completed a clean sweep of their T20 international series against Scotland with a six-wicket win at the Grange, securing their third consecutive victory. Scotland set a challenging total of 149 runs in Edinburgh, largely due to Brandon McMullen’s impressive second successive half-century. McMullen scored 56, anchoring Scotland’s innings despite early setbacks from Australian bowlers.
Brad Currie provided a strong start for Scotland, dismissing Australian openers Jake Fraser-McGurk and Travis Head in quick succession. This initially gave Scotland a glimmer of hope for an upset but Australia’s response proved too strong. Mitchell Marsh and Cam Green steadied the Australian innings with a crucial 61-run partnership for the third wicket.
Tim David also contributed a valuable 25 runs before Aaron Hardie sealed the win with a decisive boundary. Australia won the toss and chose to field, aiming to challenge Scottish openers Oli Hairs and George Munsey. Munsey managed 25 runs but McMullen’s innings was the highlight of Scotland’s batting effort. He was dismissed by a spectacular one-handed catch from Travis Head.
Despite support from Michael Leask and Mark Watt, Scotland’s lower order faltered, leaving them at 149-9. Australia’s chase faced early hurdles, with Jake Fraser-McGurk dismissed for a duck by McMullen’s diving catch and Head falling to Currie’s next over. Despite the early breakthroughs, Marsh and Green built a solid partnership, surviving until the ninth over.
Green’s aggressive batting, including four sixes in his half-century, accelerated the chase. As the sun emerged over the Grange, Australia comfortably reached their target, confirming their dominance in the series.
