England fell 2-0 behind in their one-day international series against Australia after a disappointing batting display in the second match at Headingley. Adil Rashid and Brydon Carse contributed 27 and 26 runs, respectively, but England ultimately succumbed for just 202 leading many fans to leave before the end.

Australia’s innings was anchored by Alex Carey’s crucial 74 which helped the team recover from 161-6. He built a vital partnership with Hazlewood scoring 49 runs together. This win puts Australia in a strong position to clinch the five-match series with a victory in the upcoming third ODI at Chester-le-Street. England’s challenge became clearer after their lackluster performances in both ODIs.

Despite some promising moments, their top order crumbled under pressure, particularly during the powerplay, against Starc and Hazlewood. England’s bowlers improved from their previous outing but struggled to contain Carey, who attacked decisively and played a pivotal role in setting a competitive target. Mitchell Marsh, Australia’s captain praised his team’s bowling performance.
