Jason Holder, former captain, has earned a spot in the West Indies squad for their upcoming tour of England. He chose to make himself available again for the Test side. Jason Holder, aged 32, had decided to opt out of the Test series in Australia in January. He preferred participation in the United Arab Emirates T20 franchise league. Although an unspecified injury sidelined him from the ongoing T20 World Cup, he is expected to make a full recovery in time for the tour. West Indies has scheduled three Tests against England, starting on 10th July at Lord’s. The series opener will mark the final international appearance for England bowler James Anderson.
In addition, fast bowler Jayden Seales has rejoined the West Indies squad after missing the Australia tour due to injury. During his stint with Sussex in the County Championship earlier this season, Seales demonstrated an impressive performance. He emerged as Division Two’s leading wicket-taker with 24 wickets in six matches. Additionally, fellow fast bowler Shamar Joseph, who played a crucial role in West Indies’ victory in his second Test against Australia at Brisbane, has also made it to the squad. However, batter Shai Hope, recognized for his remarkable centuries against England at Headingley in 2017, has not been selected.
Despite not having played a Test since 2021, uncapped batter Mikyle Louis has been included in the squad. He joins other notable players such as Kraigg Brathwaite (captain), Alick Athanaze, Joshua Da Silva, Kavem Hodge, Tevin Imlach, Alzarri Joseph, Zachary McCaskie, Kirk McKenzie, Gudakesh Motie, Kemar Roach and Kevin Sinclair.
