Marizanne Kapp has been rested by South Africa for their upcoming T20 series against England which begins on November 24. The series, featuring both T20 and ODI matches will see South Africa hosting Heather Knight’s team for three T20s and three ODIs followed by a one-off Test. Kapp, who turns 34 during the series plans to return for the 50-over matches while the selectors will announce the Test squad later.

This series marks South Africa’s first appearance since their World Cup final loss to New Zealand last month. To bolster their lineup, the selectors called up all-rounders Eliz-Mari Marx and Nondumiso Shangase along with batter Faye Tunnicliffe. Seamer Ayabonga Khaka will also rest for this series while all-rounder Seshnie Naidu will miss the tour due to school exams. The selectors have omitted wicketkeeper Mieke de Ridder from the squad.

For England, this tour will be their first since their group-stage exit from the World Cup. They have excluded all-rounder Alice Capsey from both the Test and T20 squads replacing her with batter Paige Scholfield. Scholfield in line to earn her third T20 cap will join England when the series kicks off in East London on South Africa’s southeastern coast.

Both teams, looking to regroup after their disappointing World Cup campaigns aim to use this series as a crucial opportunity to test their strength ahead of future international competitions.
