Primoz Roglic Clinches Historic Fourth Vuelta a España Victory

Primoz Roglic clinched his fourth consecutive Vuelta a España title, equaling Roberto Heras’s record of four wins in the event. The Slovenian secured the historic victory by successfully navigating the final individual time trial stage. Entering Stage 21 with a comfortable lead of two minutes and two seconds over Ben O’Connor from Decathlon-AG2R-La Mondiale, Roglic needed only to complete the 26.4km time trial to confirm his win.

He finished second in the stage with a time of 26 minutes and 59 seconds securing the overall victory with a total time of 81 hours 49 minutes 18 seconds. Swiss rider Stefan Kung won the final stage with a time of 26 minutes and 28 seconds while Italian Mattia Cattaneo came in third. Kung, who celebrated his first Grand Tour stage win, remarked on the satisfaction of a clear victory, highlighting the team’s hard work and professionalism.

The only shift in the general classification occurred as Danish rider Mattias Skjelmose moved up to fifth place with a strong eighth-place finish in the final stage. Consequently, France’s David Gaudu ended the race in sixth place.
