Slovenia’s Tadej Pogacar Asserts Dominance with Stage 14 Win

Slovenia’s Tadej Pogacar strengthened his grip on the Tour de France with a commanding victory on stage 14 in the Pyrenees. Racing up the Saint-Lary-Soulan Pla d’Adet summit finish, Pogacar, sporting the yellow jersey since stage four, crossed the line 39 seconds ahead of defending champion Jonas Vingegaard of Denmark.

Vingegaard from Visma-Lease a Bike, tried to keep pace with Pogacar during the final mountain climb but couldn’t match his rival’s aggressive attack with 5km to go. This effort propelled Vingegaard into second place overall after Belgium’s Remco Evenepoel lost time, finishing third on the stage that featured the iconic Col du Tourmalet ascent.

Pogacar’s UAE-Team Emirates controlled the stage from Pau aiming to extend his lead. Starting the day with a 66-second advantage over Evenepoel, Pogacar now leads Vingegaard by 1 minute 57 seconds with Evenepoel trailing by a further 25 seconds.

The stage saw a breakaway group tackle the Col du Tourmalet with Pogacar’s teammates setting a relentless pace to reel them in before the decisive climb to Pla d’Adet. Sensing an opportunity, UAE launched Adam Yates to support Pogacar’s bid for both the stage win and overall lead extension.

Pogacar’s explosive attack on the final climb left his rivals struggling, sending a clear message as the race heads into another mountainous day. The win on stage 14 further solidifies Pogacar’s status as the dominant force in this year’s Tour de France.

In the general classification standings, Slovenia’s Tadej Pogacar leads with a total time of 56 hours, 42 minutes and 39 seconds, followed by Vingegaard and Evenepoel, setting the stage for intense battles in the remaining stages before the rest day on Monday.
