Tadej Pogacar reclaimed the coveted yellow jersey in spectacular fashion by winning stage four of the Tour de France. The Slovenian cyclist surged ahead with a powerful attack 800 meters from the summit of Col du Galibier, extending his lead on the 20km descent to the finish line. This strategic move not only secured him the stage victory but also allowed him to gain time on all his main rivals in the general classification. Remco Evenepoel finished second, 35 seconds behind Pogacar, while defending champion Jonas Vingegaard crossed the line 37 seconds later in fifth place. Pogacar, 25, expressed immense satisfaction with his performance, highlighting his familiarity with the stage terrain and strong physical condition.

In the overall standings, Tadej Pogacar now leads Evenepoel by 45 seconds, with Vingegaard trailing further behind by 50 seconds. Richard Carapaz, the overnight leader, fell to 22nd place after losing more than five minutes. The stage marked a significant statement from Pogacar and UAE Team Emirates, capitalizing on the early Alpine challenge as the race transitioned from Italy to France. With dominant contenders like Vingegaard and Wout van Aert recovering from earlier season setbacks, Pogacar’s strategic prowess and team support proved decisive on the grueling ascent and descent of Col du Galibier.

The Tour continues with heightened anticipation as Pogacar aims to maintain his momentum and secure further gains in the challenging mountain stages ahead.
