Tom Pidcock’s New Era: Swiss Q36.5 Team for 2025 and Beyond

Tom Pidcock’s new team boss, Doug Ryder praised the British rider’s exceptional attention to detail, calling it “next level.” Pidcock, 25, signed with the Swiss Q36.5 team earlier this month after leaving Ineos Grenadiers where he spent three years. Ryder described Pidcock’s addition as a “game changer” for the team, emphasizing the importance of giving him full leadership and the support he needs to achieve his goals.

Pidcock has already made a significant mark in road cycling, notably winning Stage 12 of the 2022 Tour de France to Alpe d’Huez. His fearless descending skills including reaching nearly 100 km/h, earned widespread admiration. In 2023 and 2024, he won the prestigious Strade Bianche and Amstel Gold one-day classics. However, his 2024 season with Ineos ended on a sour note when they dropped him from their line-up with Geraint Thomas citing issues with Pidcock’s support network.

Ryder was impressed by Pidcock’s work ethic when they trained together at an impromptu camp in Spain. He highlighted Pidcock’s leadership skills and ability to motivate the team which have already had a positive impact on his new teammates. Despite Q36.5 competing in the second-tier ProTour series, the team expects wildcard entries into several high-profile one-day races during the 2025 World Tour season and hopes to qualify for some of the Grand Tours, including the Tour de France.

Tom Pidcock’s ultimate goal is to win the Road World Championships in 2025, adding the rainbow jersey to his already impressive cyclocross and mountain bike accolades. With substantial backing from Ivan Glasenberg and other major sponsors, Q36.5 plans to achieve even greater success in the coming seasons.
