Josh Rock believes he can challenge Luke Littler’s future dominance in professional darts. Littler, who recently claimed his first world title at just 17 years old, has emerged as a promising talent capable of achieving unprecedented success, possibly mirroring the legendary 16-time world champion Phil Taylor. Littler’s victory follows his impressive run to the World Championship final the previous year.
At 23, Rock was also tipped as one of the sport’s rising stars when he won the 2022 World Youth Darts Championship. In that event, he set a record for the highest average in a final with 104.13. He has since secured several Players Championship titles and won the 2024 Dutch Darts Championship. Despite his achievements, Rock focuses on 2025, calling it his year for a major breakthrough.
“I had a solid 2024, but honestly, I think 2025 is going to be my year,” Rock stated ahead of the World Masters in Milton Keynes. “Luke’s victory shows that darts is now a young man’s sport, and it’s great for the game.” Rock’s best performance in a PDC premier event came in the 2023 Grand Slam of Darts where he reached the quarter-finals. The same event saw him make history by hitting a televised nine-dart finish on debut.
Josh Rock firmly believes his game can challenge for top honors especially against Littler. With just six years separating them, Rock envisions a long and competitive career alongside Littler with both players potentially dominating the sport for years to come. Rock will face Jermaine Wattimena in the first round of the World Masters while Littler entering the tournament for the first time will play Andy Baetens on Friday.
