Michael van Gerwen bounced back from a disappointing first-round exit in the World Grand Prix to secure an 8-4 victory over Gerwyn Price in the Players Championship 27 final. The Dutch star had a rough time in Leicester where he failed to win a single leg against Daryl Gurney but he returned to form with a commanding performance in Wigan claiming his third ranking title of the season.

Van Gerwen showcased his skill with an impressive average of 98.82 during the tournament. He began his journey by narrowly defeating Welshman Jonny Clayton 6-5 in a tense quarter-final match. The 35-year-old then faced compatriot Wessel Nijman in the semi-finals, successfully advancing to the final against Price. In the final, Price initially took a 2-0 lead but Van Gerwen quickly responded, leveling the score by winning the next two legs.

The match saw a seesaw battle with Price briefly regaining the lead before Van Gerwen seized control. He pulled ahead 5-3 with a stunning 142 checkout, demonstrating his finishing prowess.
