Carlsberg Golf Classic (CGC), Malaysia’s longest-running amateur golf tournament, concluded its 31st edition at the Kota Permai Golf & Country Club where Lam Kong Foo and Lee Kok Hua secured the Gross and Nett Championship titles, respectively. The tournament saw over 3,600 golfers compete across 32 qualifying rounds, showcasing exceptional talent and sportsmanship. Lam secured the Gross Championship with an impressive 75 strokes (3 over par).
Both champions were awarded cutting-edge Garmin devices including the Venu 3, epix Pro and Approach Z82, adding a tech-savvy touch to their victories. The 2024 edition which commenced in June, featured tournaments in states such as Johor, Kedah, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Sarawak. New partnerships with Vespa and Le Botanical enriched the event, alongside long-standing collaborators like Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, Hap Seng Star, Adidas, TaylorMade and Garmin.
High-value prizes heightened the competition’s excitement. Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint scooters served as Hole-In-One prizes during the qualifiers and grand finals, respectively. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia and Hap Seng Star contributed two Mercedes-Benz EQA 250 units for the National Finals, amplifying the stakes. Stefano Clini, Managing Director of Carlsberg Malaysia, highlighted the tournament’s impact, emphasizing its role in fostering camaraderie and healthy competition in Malaysia’s golf community.
Clini reiterated Carlsberg’s dedication to maintaining its position as the preferred beer in Malaysia’s leading golf clubs. The tournament’s grand finale celebrated the spirit of golf with sampling opportunities for Carlsberg products including the alcohol-free Somersby 0.0, as part of the company’s #CELEBRATERESPONSIBLY campaign to promote responsible drinking. Marking another successful year, the Carlsberg Golf Classic not only showcased top amateur golf talent but also celebrated community, enjoyment and responsible living in a vibrant, high-stakes atmosphere.
