Charley Hull of England and Leona Maguire of Ireland qualified automatically for Europe’s Solheim Cup team, which will face the United States next month. They will join France’s Celine Boutier, Spain’s Carlota Ciganda, Germany’s Esther Henseleit and the Swedish trio of Maja Stark, Linn Grant and Madelene Sagstrom. Captain Suzann Pettersen will announce her four wildcard picks on Monday, August 26, at 16:00 BST.

Georgia Hall, a consistent performer in past Solheim Cups awaits confirmation of her spot on the team. US captain Stacy Lewis will reveal her team on Tuesday. Europe heads into the 19th Solheim Cup from September 13-15 at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia aiming to defend its title. Europe retained the title with a 14-14 draw in Spain last year after winning the previous two editions. The US leads the series 10-7 with one draw.

Charley Hull, who debuted in 2013 will make her seventh appearance. She topped the Ladies European Tour (LET) Solheim Cup points list and earned 13½ points from 22 matches. In contrast, Henseleit who qualified by finishing runner-up at the Scottish Open will make her debut. She expressed her excitement, sharing that it has been her dream to play in the Solheim Cup since childhood.

Boutier, making her fourth consecutive appearance has contributed to victories at Gleneagles in 2019, Ohio in 2021 and last year’s draw. Maguire will make her third appearance and has earned 7½ points from 10 matches. The event now occurs in even-numbered years to avoid clashes with the Ryder Cup which has shifted to odd-numbered years following its rescheduling from 2020 to 2021 due to Covid.
