Charlie Woods Hits First Hole-in-One at PNC Championship

Charlie Woods, 15, hit his first hole-in-one during the final round of the PNC Championship, helping him and his father, Tiger Woods briefly take the lead. Charlie aced the par-three fourth hole, a moment of celebration for the father-son duo in the event which features 20 major champions playing alongside family members. However, despite the exciting achievement, the Woods team ultimately fell short in a play-off against Bernhard and Jason Langer.

The Langers won their second consecutive PNC Championship title and fourth overall after Bernhard made an eagle on the first play-off hole to secure the victory. Charlie Woods reflected on the memorable day, saying, “It was awesome… No one made a mistake today, so that was some of the most fun I’ve ever had,” adding, “On top of that, I made an ace. I don’t think I can top that.”

Tiger Woods playing in his first competitive event since July’s Open had undergone back surgery in September, his second in 18 months. While admitting he was “nowhere near competitive shape,” Tiger expressed pride in the team’s performance. “We made a great team this week,” said the 48-year-old, emphasizing the joy of being with family during the event. Charlie wasn’t the only player to score a first career hole-in-one.

About 30 minutes after Charlie’s ace, 21-year-old Paddy Harrington, whose father Padraig is a three-time major winner also made a hole-in-one on the eighth hole. His father, Padraig shared his excitement, saying, “I’ve never hit a shot and been that excited before.” Despite their strong performances, the Woods team finished as runners-up to the Langers.
