Jon Rahm Claims LIV Golf UK Title
Jon Rahm clinched his first victory since last year’s Masters by winning the LIV Golf UK event at JCB Golf and Country Club in Staffordshire. Rahm secured the win with a final-hole par, finishing at 13 under par. His victory came after team-mate Tyrrell Hatton faltered on the 18th with a three-putt bogey. Hatton, along with Cameron Smith and Joaquin Niemann, who both birdied their final holes, finished tied for second place at 12 under par.
Rahm had been in excellent form throughout LIV Golf, consistently finishing in the top 10 in every event since its inception. However, he had to withdraw from the Houston event last month due to a toe injury, which also led to him missing the US Open. The win held special significance for Rahm, who revealed that his son’s request for a trophy was a major motivation.
Rahm expressed his gratitude towards Hatton and shared that the past year had been challenging for his family, including his wife Kelly’s health issues. He noted the emotional weight of the victory and the relief of finally achieving it. “This win feels incredible,” Jon Rahm said.
“It’s been a tough year for our family, and bringing home a trophy for my son Kepa makes it even more special. It’s a relief and a moment of joy after all we’ve been through.” Rahm’s win not only marked a personal milestone but also fulfilled a cherished promise to his family.
