Justin Rose No Regrets After Narrow Open Loss

Justin Rose has expressed no regrets despite falling short of his dream to win The Open Championship. The 43-year-old led the tournament at Royal Troon on the final day after a birdie on the eighth hole but lost the lead to Xander Schauffele, who delivered an impressive back nine of 31. Rose finished in a tie for second with Billy Horschel, posting a four-under 67 and a total of seven under par. Rose’s near-miss means that an English winner of The Open will remain elusive for at least 33 years.

Despite this, Rose, a Ryder Cup veteran and Olympic gold medalist, remained upbeat. He acknowledged feeling disappointed and emotional after the round but found comfort in having no regrets. “The deal I made with myself was to come off with no regrets,” said Rose, who had to qualify for the tournament. “I had opportunities and I took a lot of them. I felt super comfortable out there, which gives me a lot of heart.”

Dan Brown, another English contender also delivered a notable performance. Brown, who started the final round tied with Justin Rose and just one stroke off the lead, struggled with a double bogey on the 18th on Saturday and a messy outward nine of 39 on Sunday. Despite this, his final round of 74 earned him a tie for 10th place and secured his spot at Royal Portrush next July. Brown reflected positively on his result, saying, “I can get on the drink now.”

Matthew Jordan, another English player, matched his performance from last year by shooting a fourth consecutive level-par round of 71. Jordan also secured his spot for the tournament in Northern Ireland, continuing his consistent form.
