Minjee Lee’s impressive four-under-par round of 66 in the third round of the US Women’s Open tied her with American Andrea Lee and Thailand’s Wichanee Meechai for the lead. This performance positioned her strongly for the remainder of the tournament. Minjee Lee’s , a 28-year-old former champion secured her second major title at the 2022 US Open. She matched the week’s best round at Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania, moving to five under. Maintaining her overnight lead, Wichanee, who has never secured a top-10 finish at a major, posted a solid 69. Andrea Lee made a significant move with five birdies and two bogeys in her 67. This performance positioned her for a potential first major title on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Hinako Shibuno of Japan is trailing the leaders by two shots after carding seven birdies in her 66 while compatriot Yuka Saso is one stroke behind. Minjee Lee starting the day three shots behind Meechai gained momentum with a crucial birdie on the seventh hole. This propelled her charge up the leaderboard. Reflecting on her performance, Lee stated, “I thought the course was set up really well for moving day, round three. There was a lot of opportunities for birdie out there. I just tried to stick to my game plan, tried to make birdies, and just stayed in the moment.”

Despite the challenging conditions over the past three days, only five players finished 54 holes under par. Notably, world number one and top contender Nelly Korda failed to make the cut, struggling with a 10-over-par 80 in the first round, followed by a second-round 70, leaving her two shots behind the eight-over cut line.
