Nelly Korda and USA Target Solheim Cup Triumph

Nelly Korda the world number one has voiced the United States’ strong determination to end Europe’s dominance in the Solheim Cup and halt their record streak of three consecutive victories. The 19th edition of this prestigious women’s golf event will commence on Friday at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia. The U.S. team seeks to secure their first win since their 16½ – 11½ triumph in Des Moines seven years ago.

Korda, who lost 2&1 to Carlota Ciganda at Finca Cortesin last year is feeling particularly motivated this time. That defeat was one of the factors that allowed Europe to keep the trophy. “Wearing the red, white and blue has a unique significance,” Korda said. “You’re not just playing for yourself but for your captains, teammates and country. We have some unfinished business.”

At 26, Nelly Korda enters the tournament as a leading figure in women’s golf. She has had a remarkable year, winning the Chevron Championship in April and claiming six LPGA Tour titles in 2024. Despite her individual success, she has yet to experience victory in the Solheim Cup having competed in U.S. losses at Gleneagles in 2019 and Inverness Club in 2021.

Korda remains optimistic about the event, citing her positive experiences in previous Solheim Cups. She practiced alongside Allisen Corpuz, with whom she won both their foursomes matches in Spain. Korda anticipates their partnership will continue as Captain Stacy Lewis announces the initial pairings on Thursday.
