Nelly Korda, the current world No. 1 is proving herself as the dominant force in women’s golf. She is looking to cap off a stellar 2024 season with an eighth LPGA Tour victory at the CME Group Tour Championship which airs live on Sky Sports Golf starting Thursday at 8pm. This year, Korda secured seven wins including titles like the LPGA Drive On Championship, Chevron Championship and the ANNIKA. Her remarkable achievement ties her with legends Kathy Whitworth and Nancy Lopez for the most wins in a single season since 1970.

Korda’s 2024 accomplishments include becoming the fourth player in history to win six or more LPGA titles before May. However, her path has not been without challenges. Despite facing setbacks such as missing three consecutive cuts and enduring a neck injury, Korda’s resilience has been clear. She recovered to win The ANNIKA after battling migraines and neck pain during the Solheim Cup.

Her journey to the top comes from a deep sports lineage—her father Petr was a tennis pro, and her mother Regina was a former tennis player. Nelly along with her sister Jessica, who is also a professional golfer has continued this athletic tradition. They became the first sisters to play together in a Solheim Cup, a historic achievement. Korda’s breakthrough came in 2021 when she won her first major title and reached world No. 1.

After a challenging 2022 plagued by injuries, Korda made a strong return in 2024. She kicked off her winning streak with a playoff victory at the LPGA Drive On Championship. Her success is fueled by a rigorous new fitness regime, which she credits for improving her performance. While comparisons to Tiger Woods have surfaced, Korda’s style, her powerful swing and her ability to dominate tournaments are reshaping women’s golf.

Many believe her success will push the entire field to new heights similar to how Woods revolutionized the game. As her victories continue to stack up, Nelly Korda is undoubtedly one of the brightest stars in golf today.
