Scottie Scheffler Confident Injury Won’t Affect His Game

Scottie Scheffler is unconcerned about the “stupid” hand injury he suffered on Christmas Day, believing it won’t affect his performance. The 28-year-old had a standout year in 2024, winning the Masters, the Players Championship and Olympic gold in Paris. However, he required surgery after cutting the palm of his right hand on a broken wine glass. Despite the surgery, Scheffler has fully recovered and is ready to return to competitive golf at this week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

When asked about the potential impact of the injury, he confidently responded, “Not at all.” Reflecting on the incident, he admitted he felt frustrated with himself initially, calling it “stupid,” but emphasized that the injury wasn’t as severe as it initially felt. He knew something was wrong when his hand didn’t move properly and hurt when he tried to move it.

Although Scheffler missed two events due to the injury, he doesn’t plan to add extra tournaments to his schedule. “I enjoy playing them,” he said of the missed events, but he wants to keep his calendar balanced. “Just because I missed two, I don’t want to change the flow and cadence to my schedule,” he added. He will only consider adding events if he feels it would help him gain more practice.

Last year, Scottie Scheffler finished joint-sixth at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which was shortened to three rounds due to weather. This time, he will tee off at Spyglass Hill at 17:01 (GMT) on Thursday, playing alongside amateur David Abeles. Scheffler’s focus remains on returning to top form without letting the injury disrupt his rhythm.
