Scottie Scheffler Takes Two-Shot Lead in Bahamas
Scottie Scheffler surged into a two-shot lead after the second round of the Hero World Challenge, shooting a remarkable 64 on Friday. The 28-year-old American made eight birdies in a flawless round including seven on the front nine and ultimately finished at 13 under at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas.
Reflecting on his impressive performance, Scheffler shared, “I was just trying to keep my foot down on the pedal. It was good. I did a lot of good things. The front nine was really nice and I felt like I did some good things on the back nine as well.” Meanwhile, Justin Thomas and Akshay Bhatia both representing the US are tied for second place at 11 under.
Additionally, US 2025 Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley sits two shots further back in fourth. In contrast, Cameron Young, who led after round one faltered with a disappointing second-round 75 which caused him to drop to a tie for 10th place. As the tournament progresses into the weekend, Scheffler’s dominant round has clearly showcased his excellent form as he aims to defend his title at this prestigious event.
However, the competition remains fierce. Thomas and Bhatia are closely trailing behind while Bradley is still within striking distance. Furthermore with two rounds remaining, Scottie Scheffler will need to maintain his momentum and composure to fend off his challengers and ultimately secure victory in the Bahamas.
