TGL Launches: A New Era in Golf

TGL a new golf league launched by TMRW Sports, features six teams of four players each and aims to innovate the sport. Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy founded TMRW Sports in August 2022 and they attracted high-profile investors including Serena and Venus Williams, Stephen Curry and Liverpool’s Fenway Sports Group. The league will operate from January 7 to March 4, during which each team will participate in five matches in a round-robin format. The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs, beginning on March 17.

In each match, three selected players will compete in a 15-hole format divided into two segments: nine holes of three-man alternate shots, followed by six holes of head-to-head singles play. Points will accrue for each hole won and the team with the most points at the end of the match will emerge victorious. In case of a tie, a nearest-the-pin contest will determine the winner.

This format aims to combine traditional golf with exciting new elements, thereby enhancing the spectator experience. In this innovative setup, golfers will begin each hole by hitting shots into a large 64×46 ft screen. Once they approach approximately 50 yards from the hole, they will transition from the simulator to real greens which feature actuators that simulate varying putting surfaces that can rotate and change.

Furthermore, the entire 2025 season will take place at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, further establishing TGL as a new frontier in the world of golf. By blending technology and sports, TGL will attract both players and fans alike. Ultimately with this forward-thinking approach, TGL aims to create an engaging and dynamic environment for competitive golf.
